I had the honor of hosting Peter Schramm last week as he came to Visalia, met with students, gave a talk at a fundraiser, and generally charmed everyone he encountered. He is a very American American--indeed he joked that he turns natives into Americans at the Ashbrook Center. I was struck yet again by his open and generous spirit, his commitment to Lincoln's vision of the American republic, and his downright kindness. Spending a few days with him is an intellectual and spiritual shot in the arm. I highly recommend it.
And my 18 month old son couldn't get enough of him either.
