Rethinking Advanced Placement

NY Times article.

Though I am admittedly ignorant of any pending changes to the structure of the AP US history course, I have to say I welcome the discussion of some sort of change.  In its current form the amount of information to be covered is virtually impossible in a semester.  It either needs to be turned into two courses like most colleges do, or taught over the course of an entire school year.

You teach APUSH in a semester?

Yes. It sucks.

Wow! How in the world?
I'm guessing you use the Newman and Schlabach review text? I'm in the Gilded Age right now and I feel like I'm WAAAAY behind.

We use American Pageant and the Amsco test prep book. We do two chapters a week. It's essentially a test prep course. I teach them how to cram for a big exam.
