Great Review

Anne Applebaum's review of Spies: The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America, by John Earl Haynes, Harvey Klehr, and Alexander Vassiliev is excellent. Take a look.

It does make you wonder. The World War II, Korean War, and senior baby boomer generations as a rule struggle to talk reasonably about communism and anticommunism in the U.S. in the 1930s-1950s. Baby boomers seem congenitally incapable of discussing Vietnam without losing their minds one way or another.

What won't we be able to talk about? Iraq? George W. Bush? Barack Obama? What does that say about the decisions we make based on perceived lessons learned from events in our lifetimes?

I'm hoping we all forget American Idol.
