The Big Tent contributors are followers of Alfred Thayer Mahan.
Yet another huge loss for the historical profession. For those less familiar with DHD's output I would strongly recommend going back to his collection of essays, Lincoln Reconsidered, which was reissued in paperback a few years ago. Although the essays are from the early 1960s and may not be historiographically fresh they are provocative, erudite, and well-crafted, and you can pop in and out of them without the guilt of not polishing off a big monograph or biography. dcat
