Speaking as a liberal hawk who supported Joe Leiberman in 2004 & Joe Biden in 2008, I have high hopes for Obama. I think it is telling that Samantha Powers (a gen xer & liberal internventionist) is a key foreign policy adviser to the campaign. My hope for Obama is that he represents a generational change wherein liberals are no longer obsessed with Vietnam & the 1960s and can once again trumpet national greatness abroad and reform at home. Time will tell if he is that sort of liberal.
