Fred Barnes Wants Bush to Attack

Barnes is right to point out that as of now, Chuck Schumer is carrying the day. He was very good on Meet the Press today, in fact. I hope the charges against Gonzales and Rove are as bogus as Barnes claims. The problem now is that Schumer has been able to make the case, unchallenged, that the incident is worth a closer look. Now we are going to be faced with thorny questions that should not be addressed in the middle of an investigation, since every party has an interest in the outcome. The biggest unresolved question regards the independence of each branch of government. The underlying problem is that we now have a system where the executive and judicial now legislate while the legislature investigates. Too much to think about now. I have to go to brunch.
