I'm glad that the Democrats have a fresh, well-spoken, new face that they can be enthusiastic about. Politics can be dreadful enough without having to see those who normally populate the profession.
However, I must issue a word of caution. Obama is from Illinois. And Illinois' politics is dirty - or more so than all other states except Louisiana. Now I'm not saying that he's dirty. I think he's a as squeaky-clean as advertised. But you can bet that someone around him is. And while it might be business-as-usual for Illinois, national scrutiny will be far less forgiving. If he is not very careful, his hopes could be crushed by the company he keeps.
I applaud the breath of fresh air he brings to politics, but I hope he cleans house before he seriously jumps into primetime.
