I know you are not saying this, but the title coupled with the block quotation implies that there is something conservative about valuing fatherhood, and of course this is not the case.

There is absolutely something conservative about valuing fatherhood, but then there is something liberal about it too. But sorry for any confusion--I picked that particular quotation not for its conservativeness but because he mentioned honor and it gave me a chance to link to the Bowman interview.
