Jonah Goldberg writes a 'frequently asked questions' column that explains quite a few things. Note this comment:

Readers have a lot more questions and criticisms about the book, but all I can say is that many of the rumors and assumptions about it are inaccurate.

I'd like to think that the "readers" he mentions include the Big Tent, since we have expressed our displeasure with the early notes about the book. But since he no doubt does not read Big Tent, I'll have to give credit to our friend Derek, who has exchanged emails with Goldberg on this very issue. Stupid Derek.
