Small Debate

Recently, in the American Spectator, a fella named Mark Judge called for a resurgence--or is it just a surgence?--of conservatives with better taste, folks he calls conservative metrosexuals, or 'metrocons'. Mr. Judge was not very nice in the article.

Richard John Neuhaus responds. The key point:

Judge admires “metrocons” such as William F. Buckley, while failing to appreciate that a mark of their sophistication is that they would never dream of writing an article like the article he wrote. The reason is not hypocrisy but courtesy. A mark of a gentleman is that he never makes a public issue of being a gentleman.
