My People

Breaking news:

College coaches and Supreme Court justices: two areas where Italian Americans are over-represented in American life (if he's confirmed).

The news services are already starting to paint him as a conservative Neanderthal. Get ready to strap it up, there's gonna be a fight.

You forgot "authors of Superman movies."

No, I didn't. I do not know who wrote Superman 3, 4, or the new one, but unless he or she is an Italian American other than Puzo, then Italian Americans are not overrepresented among the authors of Superman movies. Just like Italian Americans were not overrepresented on the Supreme Court when Scalia was the only one. One doesn't count. I'm sure statisticians have term to describe this phenomenon.

Of course, Superman has been on HBO a bunch lately, so I watched most of it the other day. Considering it was made during the hell-on-earth 1970s, it actually holds up fairly well.

Don't forget about your other people. There are now five Catholics on the Supreme Court.
