Tribune Media Services columnists Victor Davis Hanson and Arianna Huffington will square off in a debate about whether the U.S. is 'internationalist or imperial.'
The debate is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Gerald R. Ford Museum Auditorium, Grand Rapids, Mich. It's the first in a series of events (also taking place Oct. 6-7 and Nov. 17) on 'War and Empire' hosted by the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University.
Huffington and Hanson are also authors, and Huffington is the namesake behind the high-profile Huffington Post group blog/news site.
I love the idea that these two are somehow equal. You know, they are both columnists and authors, plus Huffington has a group blog. They forgot to add that she married well, kinda. She is also from Greece, which means she could probably teach Hanson a thing or two about that country and its history.
The debate should be pretty funny, and I suspect Hanson will blow the simplistic "internationalist vs. imperial" idea out of the water pretty early on.

Whoah! I cannot wait for that. Please let there be a transcript.
I only live about an hour, hour and a half from Grand Rapids. I may have to make a day trip. I wonder if they would let video cameras in...
Any one else interested? Tom, tickets to toledo or detroit are pretty cheap. Wanna come out for the weekend?
