Thanks Tom. The author hits on a good point, that is that fly fishing has an extensive body of literature behind it. To generalize a bit, it is by nature a contemplative activity that requires deep concentration, attention to detail and hours of intense observation. Hence, fly fishing is practiced by many who are also well-versed in putting word to paper. Some great literature includes: Maclean's masterpiece, "A River Runs Through It", just about any of Thomas McGuane's novels, David James Duncan's "The River Why" to name just a few.
