"The Gulag of Our Time"

Amnesty International issues its annual human rights report, with Guantanamo a primary focus.

We should perhaps add the word "Gulag" to "Nazi" and "Communist" as words not to throw around to score political points. Whatever one thinks of Gitmo, it is certainly not the Gulag. For anyone wanting to do the comparison themselves, see Anne Applebaum's GULAG: A History or Janusz Bardach's unforgettable memoir, Man is Wolf to Man

What I want to know is, if they want Guantanamo shut down, what do you then do with the prisoners there? Let them go with a warning to be good?

I saw the editor of the Nation on "This Week" last Sunday. She spoke of Guantanamo as part of an "archipelago" of prisons abusing detainees. Can we ban "gulag" and "archipelago" together, apart, or in any combination?

Can we add "slave," "slavery," or any derivation thereof as well? (exempting Skid Row, of course, because "Slave to the Grind" sort of rocked.)

Mark,

USA has already sent 14 years old and 81 years old prisoners back to ther countries, with the advice of "be good"

The point is, if u have evidence, start prosecution, or shut the fuck up, and rtelease them
