I worked with Pace when he was Chief of Staff for 2d Marine Division. I'm not surprised he's gotten this far. He is a real people person who just oozes affability.

I'm also a little curious. Doesn't the National Security Acts of 1947 and 1949 restrict a Marine from becoming Chairman of the JCS? Isn't that why there has never been a Marine as CJCS? Maybe they're saying that Goldwater-Nichols, by placing the CJCS outside of the chain-of-command, supercedes the previous legislation? Anyone?
