Ugly Is as Ugly Was

A strange piece in the Washington Post on Lileks. It claims to be an interview, but really is more of a book review of his newest book, Interior Desecrations. Fine. Actually, good. I bought the book for my mother-in-law for Christmas, to give her motivation and support as she renovates her '70s era home. It is as funny as you would expect. But more importantly, as Lileks said in the interview:

"...I also wanted to write a Cautionary Tale, capital C, capital T, because ever since the early '90s it had seemed apparent that dark forces were laboring to bring back the '70s -- and they completely succeeded."

If he only knew. At the bars last night the girls wore giant floppy hats and low cut jeans on not-for-low-cut-hips, while the guys walked around with messy, moppy haircuts and tight ugly sweaters on not-for-tight-sweaters torsos. Horrifying.

Buy the book, please, buy the book.
