The SG's pick for the 'Hawks / Vikes game this week includes this comment:
"VIKINGS (-6.5) over Seahawks
According to my old editor KJ, a long-suffering Seattle fan, four of the 10 most agonizing losses in Seahawks history happened in the last 13 months: The Anthony Wright/4th Timeout Game in Baltimore (11/03); Hasselbeck's walkoff interception in Lambeau (01/04); the bizarre collapse against St. Louis (10/04); and last Monday's unprecedented collapse against the Cowboys. I'm officially declaring this a "Dead Man Walking Game." This Seahawks team needs a blood tranfusion."
He's right. Believe it or not, I had not thought of this before, and the realization of it hit me like a ton of bricks. It brought back Monday night's depression in force.
The thing about this team is that I (and every other Hawks fan) expect them to blow any lead at any time in any number of ways. It's like the talented and likeable but dysfunctional friend who inevitably manages to train wreck his life in any number of ways just as he appears to be getting his act together. After a while, it is a matter of how he screws up, not if he will.
They don't just need a blood transfusion--they need AA. I know about 3 million people who would be willing to stage an Intervention...
Go Hawks (whose co-dependent now?)
