As some of you (hopefully) out there in Big Tent land know, the NHL has been locked out since the beginning of the season, and it doesn't look likely that it will return any time soon. But in case anyone wants to see some hockey (and there's at least one reader who I guess does), be sure to check out the World Junior Hockey Championship going on in North Dakota and Minnesota right now. The hockey is usually better than the pros, and you can see some of the up-and-coming stars who normally would be in the NHL but for the lockout. Not only is the U.S. the host, but also the defending champion, so they should have a good team and plenty of incentive to repeat. But Canada has won a medal every year since 1998, and usually dominates the tournament pretty well. Check it out if you can.
