They Still Haven't Figured Him Out--a good example of a first draft of a president's biography. Stephen's dissertation has made me more aware of the making of a president's reputation. President Bush seems to have shed the dumb label, and is now being portrayed more, for good or bad, as the uncompromising representative of evangelicals. But I'm not so sure how much the president's religion really informs his policies, and as a result, all the discussion of his evangelicalism guiding his life tip-toes that line of psychoanalysis.
