The rumor mill is churning in Athens, Ohio. Yesterday, the AP reported that former Nebraska football head coach and Ohio native Frank Solich interviewed for the job at Ohio University.
The word I hear today is that the deal is going to get done in the next couple of days and Coach Solich will be introduced at an Ohio Basketball game this weekend.
If true, this is huge news for the Bobcats, who have been a perennial doormat team in the MAC since the beginning of time. Solich would bring instant credibility to the program, especially important in recruiting, an area of great concern as there is precisely one Ohio player in the NFL right now: injured Baltimore Ravens punter Dave Zastudil.
And I'm going to be gone next year. Great.
