Personally, I think these jammers are a great idea, but America will have to reexamine its laws regarding transmitters and licensing for them to be legal here. But there are interesting arguments in both directions. For example, I go to mass with a doctor who carries a beeper when he's on-call, keeps it on vibrate, no one is disturbed when he leaves, and the public good is served. On the other hand, we have all heard of or been in a situation where some jerk in the front row chats for twenty minutes on his cell phone with his girlfriend, ruining the opera for the other 1,000 members of the audience who paid $100 a ticket. Too bad we can't all just rely on common courtesy.
