Taxes and Burdens

Check out this tax graphic from the Detroit News. Very interesting. I didn't realize that the second quintile had moved from a small federal rate to an effective negative rate, which to me is a real positive thing for working class families. Without seeing the numbers, I already knew what the burden figures would be like. The richest quintile got the greatest tax breaks, so their proportion of the tax burden increased. Simply put, taxes are a drag on all economic activity, so lower tax rates means higher productivity and more taxes collected. Good news all around.
