Shae and I have discussed this at length and we both agree that huge mobs of protesters at the Republican National Convention is a bad idea. Given the security restrictions placed on protesters and the anarchist element in the protesters, it's almost guaranteed that there'll be a riot and the NYPD will respond a'la Chicago '68. The anti-Bush crowd will appear pierced, tatooed, burning, smashing, incoherent. The Republicans can only look good by comparison. Now, I'm not against free expression or a free boost to Republican poll numbers, but if the anti-Bush crowd want a change in government, they're going to have to show themselves to be professional adults. This ain't it.
