This review of three books on teenagers is absolutely hysterical. The Atlantic has fallen off, but pieces like this still make it a worthwhile read. In fact, and even for my criticisms of Benjamin Schwarz, the book review section alone is worth the the subscription--and Mark Bowden is very good, too.
Christopher Hitchens has continued to follow his own path in the last few weeks--foolishly in calling President Reagan "dumb as a stump," and probably equally foolishly in what amounts to a melancholy paean to Trotsky. Not my area of expertise, so do we have any takers on Hitchens on Trotsky?
If you feel, I don't know, kind of icky after reading about Trotsky, Robert Conquest's review of a new bio of Stalin should clear you right up.
