I get a little pamphlet in the mail periodically from the National Council for History Education, Inc., called "History Matters!" The target audience is mostly high school history teachers and its content is usually on the boring side. The latest issue (vol 16, number 9, May 2004) came today, and the main article is "Ten History Lessons" by Peter H. Gibbon. The ariticle is a discussion of the debate over Christopher Columbus, and Gibbon does a wonderful job. I will see if I can come up with an electronic version.
In the meantime, read Peter H. Gibbon on Heroes on National Review Online, and buy his book.
