Did any of you catch the Basra bombing a few days ago on the news? Let me fill in some of the details most of the media avoided. Three men got out of the car in Basra just before it exploded, and the bystanders who had seen this immediately attacked them. The police literally had to fight off the crowd to arrest two of them. The third was stabbed to death by the crowd. This seems like a rather odd reaction from a people who support a popular indigenous guerilla movement. In fact, I think the media should drop the false pretense that the violence in Iraq isn't from criminal gangs, foreign terrorists, or Baath party remnants. But then I always err on the optimistic side.
