Obviously, Al Michaels has the top prize, so I agree with that one from Cali. I have to admit, I am not sold on the Bobby Thompson, 'Giants win the pennant' call. It is great, and I'm just being contrarian, but hardly anyone listened to the game on the channel that had that call, and the people who did were in New York. Besides, the Giants lost the subsequent World Series to the Yankees. It was a great call, but the circumstances and provincialism make me hesitate to put it at number two. And yes, I know I'm alone on this one.

Cossell's "Down goes Frazier" is a great call, but it came from Smokin' Joe's fight with Big George Foreman, not Ali.

Obviously, we didn't invent this discussion. Check the Washington Post poll (with audio) here.

They leave some off the list though. How about Jack Buck's "I can't believe what I just saw" for Gibson or his "Go Crazy" for the Ozzie Smith homer?
